Caden has been playing bass in bands since he was fourteen. A Colorado native, he has had an affinity for music his whole life. Throughout highschool and early college he played in metal, blues and psych rock bands. He graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a Bachelors of Music on the electric bass. He draws influence from players like Flea, Laura Lee, Mike Gordon and Paul McArtney, After some years of developing his own sound on the bass, Caden spends most of his time now working with his original band Sqwerv.
This four-piece Indie-Psych Rock band’s love for classic rock, psychedelic music and improvisation creates a sound that is refreshingly original. Sqwerv realizes the importance of good songwriting and is always pushing themselves in their improvisation. The band spends a great deal of time writing lyrics, composing, and developing song structure that has grown into a catalogue that ranges from twelve minute prog songs inspired by Homer’s Odyssey to two minute psych songs about love. They are fiercely driven to get to those transcendent, improvised spaces that all jam-music lovers crave. Sqwerv continues to deliver to their audiences through groove, counterpoint, polyrhythms and risk taking.
In the last two years the band has released two studio albums, three live albums and completed two national tours with no plans on stopping. They have had the opportunity to play alongside acts like Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Spafford, Lespecial and Eggy. They hold themselves to a rigorous tour schedule playing unique shows for their fans on a regular basis. Sqwerv leans into the dark and the beautiful while thriving off of the sounds they create and connections they make.
On Genzler Amplification
What I really dig about the Magellan and why I got it is the full-bodied roundness and clarity of the tone as well as the pop and ability to cut in the mix. Especially as a mostly finger player it’s really important for my notes to come through and not sound wubby or muddy to my band mates or I. I also really like the adjustable midrange EQ knob and the customization of which midrange frequencies I can boost. This amp with the cab combo is the perfect tone I’ve been looking for, exceptionally rich and cutting without sacrificing any of the fundamental tones that define the instrument.
