At 35.5 Lbs, Our Lightest, Most Compact, 2×12″ cab … Ever!
SHIPPING STARTS EARLY FEB 2026
GENZLER® AMPLIFICATION is proud to announce the new MAGELLAN®ULV series of ULTRA * LIGHT * VERTICAL bass cabinets. With decades of cabinet design and build expertise, these new models are by far the lightest, most compact bass cabinets Jeff Genzler has ever offered.
These great sounding cabinets are tuned and ported to reproduce the depth and clarity of any bass instrument, with tight low-end support, vocal, mid-range definition, and available top-end shimmer. The MG-ULV cabs are all vertical designs, with a minimal stage footprint, and are constructed from a new ultra-light, multi-layer, poplar plywood, for its density and strength, and all cabinets feature full internal acoustic dampening.
AT 35.5 lbs, the MG-ULV-212T is one of the lightest, most compact 2 x 12” cabinets on the market. Constructed from new 12 & 15mm ultra-light, poplar plywood, this cab delivers its full-body response with modern, yet classic styling. The vertical design helps to keep the dispersion “off the floor” and providing a taller projection pattern. The distinctive front triangular ports provide an optimum porting design, as well as adding structural strength in the corners of the cabinet, delivering the durability of wood construction and an efficient cabinet design. Comfortable side-mounted bar handles are used for easy transport.
Discover what the warmth of wood can bring to the ultra-light cabinet segment. All of this sets the MAGELLAN®ULV series apart from standard bass cabs and defines them as the pinnacle of professional bass amplification equipment, in the smallest, lightest format possible.

The Genzler Magellan-ULV-212T arrived yesterday. Initial impressions after playing it with fingers and pick on Fender Pro Jazz and Precision basses, and Gretsch 6072 “Country Gentleman” hollow body through Kinetix 800 and Genzler Shuttle 3.0 amps … superb sound that reproduces exactly what you feed the cab. The 212 sounds especially balanced with the Kinetix 800. Solid. Authoritative. With Shuttle 3.0 and Gretsch (and TI flat wounds), the sound is remarkably close to a double bass. Ordinarily this information would be enough but there’s more because as a long-time Genz user, I already suspected sonic quality would be top notch. And I’m not alluding to build quality because this is also excellent with rugged construction and obvious close attention to detail (kudos to the builders in Ohio!). No, my main reason for getting this cab was weight and form factor. The ergonomic placement of two recessed side handles makes lifting this 36-pound cab feel like a featherweight. It weighs less than a typical single-12 cab, and since the handles are higher on the 2-driver frame, lifting is safer and easier. The physical features mean I can easily take this cab to any gig and enjoy the authority of 2-driver sound even for low-volume requirements. Thank you, Jeff Genzler, for this exceptional invention!

As a working Nashville session bassist, my gear is my livelihood. Over the course of a few months, I’ve been in the market for a new louder, larger, and lighter cab than my current setup. I reached out to Genzler to ask some questions and to my surprise, Jeff Genzler himself called me. We chatted and decided that this ULV 212 was a perfect fit.
I hooked it up to my current rig (a J bass style into a Tone Hammer 500) and boy was it a delight! The Tone Hammer does color my sound, but the ULV does a fantastic job of highlighting my bass and its natural overtones. The fullness of this 2×12 brings out a rich lower frequency without any foul boominess or mud. The sound is tight, but not like a 10in speaker. It really does do a great job at being a middle ground between a 10in and 15in speaker.
One of my biggest complaints about my previous cab was how non-ergonomical it was. It is a 1×12 and weights about the same as the ULV, but it feels so much heavier because of the bulkiness and handle position. The ULV is twice the size but is much easier to handle and move around. One thing I’d like to see in future versions would be adding one set of wheels to the back to make it that much easier to maneuver.
This cab is a great addition to my rig and will see lots of stages in lots of places. Thanks again Jeff for being a fantastic staple in the bass world for decades.

If you are looking for a super lightweight bass cab with plenty of punch, look no further than the ULV-212T. My back story: I’ve been playing bass for 40 years, and gig regularly. FOH support for bass is not always optimal so I have used 212 cabs for years. In addition, we play a lot of outdoor festivals, so I need a bigger cabinet. Hauling heavy gear has always been a burden and something I dread. So I was excited to discover ULV cabinets a few weeks ago. I was able to find one at FretNation (last one). I had my first gig with it last weekend. I’m happy to report that Genzler hit it out of the park with this cabinet. Obviously, it is super light weight for a 212 at 35.5 lbs,, and easy to move with the side handles, which are conveniently located at the lop of the sides. It also has a super small footprint which is ideal on small stages. And with the stacked drivers the sound is dispersed both horizontally and vertically, I couldn’t be happier with the sound. Very punchy and delivers superb sound along all frequency ranges, and is super efficient. To say that I have volume to spare is an extreme understatement. The ULV-212 replaces my GRbass AT212Slim, which is even lighter, but literally fell apart in less than a year (the carbon side separated from cab at the bottom edge.) I much prefer having a wood cabinet both for durability and sound. Congratulations to Genzler for it’s ULV line of cabs.
